Women's Soccer Shuts Out Bryant

WEST HARTFORD, CT ? The University of Hartford women's soccer team closed out the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 3-0 win over Bryant University on Wednesday evening at Alumni Stadium.

Freshman Breeanna Robinson scored two goals as the Hawks improved to 8-5-4 overall. Junior Laura Guigli also added a goal and freshman goalkeeper Lauren Brodeur made four saves to record her sixth shutout of the season. Bryant dropped to 3-9-3 overall.

The Hawks got on the scoreboard in the 39th minute on Robinson's first goal of the contest. Bryant goalkeeper Jessica Clark came out of the box to corral a loose ball when Robinson charged in, stripping away the ball before she could bring it back into the box and pick it up. Robinson then had an open net ahead of her and buried the game-winning goal into the back of the net.

Hartford led 1-0 at the half and wasted no time in the second stanza, scoring just 76 seconds into the half. The goal came off the foot of Guigli, who dribbled past a pair of defenders on her way into the box and blasted a shot into the top-right corner. It was her fourth goal of the season and fourth in as many games.

Robinson tacked on her sixth goal of the season with only 63 seconds remaining in the contest. Sophomore Michelle Babin played a ball into the box from the end line that Robinson connected with at the near post. The ball slid under the Bryant goalkeeper and over the goal line to give the Hawks a three-goal cushion.

Clark played the first 45 minutes in goal for the Bulldogs and made two saves while giving up one goal. Jessica Neales played the second half for Bryant and allowed two goals while making a pair of saves.

Hartford closes out the regular season against Boston University on Sunday, October 26 at Alumni Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. and will follow a special senior day ceremony.
