University of Hartford head cross country and track and field coach Kathy Manizza has announced several changes to the programs’ coaching staff. Manizza introduced a pair of newcomers, Mike DuPaul and Joe Van Gilder, who will join the track and field staff as part-time assistant coaches.
Liz Foster, an assistant cross country coach at the University of Hartford, hit the pavement for the most “magical” running route in the world. The former Hartford cross country and track and field standout competed in the 2010 Walt Disney World Half Marathon last Saturday, and came out on top once again.
In the final event of the 2009 season, seven members of the University of Hartford men’s cross country team ran at the NCAA Division I Regionals, hosted by Boston University and held at Boston’s Franklin Park on Saturday. The squad posted a 34th place finish out of 36 teams.
The University of Hartford men’s and women’s cross country teams ran at the 2009 America East Cross Country Championship hosted by the University of Vermont. All nine programs competed in the 2009 championship held in Williston, VT.
University of Hartford junior Jonas Hampton and freshman Kayla Koonz garnered the final America East Cross Country Performer of the Week awards for the week ending October 25 following strong performances at the Central Connecticut State University Mini-Meet on Saturday.
