Four members of the University of Hartford women’s golf team were named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference’s 2009-10 Academic Honor Roll. In total, the MAAC conference honored 1,054 student-athletes from among its 22 member institutions and associate members, of which Hartford is an associate member in women’s golf.
University of Hartford women’s golf coach Donna Harris has announced her five fall tournament for 2009. The Hawks will play in four school sponsored tournaments as well as the annual ECAC Championships during their fall season.
Hartford freshman Sarah Sideranko struck her best single round in the final round of the three round MAAC Championship to overcome the previous leader and take home medalist honors in the first conference championship of her collegiate career. Sideranko led the Hawks to a third place finish at the MAAC Championship, the first championship in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference for Hartford who joined the MAAC last summer.
Six University of Hartford women’s golfers were named to the MAAC All-Academic Team after earning a combined grade point average between 3.20 and 4.00 over the previous two semesters. The six Hartford golfers were the most from any school named to the women’s All-Academic Teams.
The University of Hartford women’s golf team (332) defeated the Central Connecticut Blue Devils (355) in dual match play and the final match for Hartford before the MAAC Conference Championship.
