Cambridge, MA – University of Hartford junior Jonas Hampton and freshman Kayla Koonz garnered the final America East Cross Country Performer of the Week awards for the week ending October 25 following strong performances at the Central Connecticut State University Mini-Meet on Saturday.
Hampton was the Hawks' top-finisher for the fourth time this season, leading the Hartford men to an eighth place finish out of 11 teams in the final run before the conference championship. The Pottstown, PA native posted a 26th-place finish on Saturday, completing the five kilometer course in 15:51.06.
Koonz, a Gardiner, NY native who has been the Hawk's top-runner three times this season, helped the Hartford women to sixth place out of 11 teams at the Mini-Meet on Saturday. The rookie was the 30th runner to cross the finish line, completing the 3k course in 11:02.56.
The men's and women's cross country teams return to action at the America East Championship on Saturday, October 31. The event will be held at the Catamount Center in Williston, VT, and begins with the women's race at 11:00 a.m. followed by the men's competition at 12:00 p.m.
