Track and Field Competes at Holy Cross Quad Meet

WORCESTER, Mass. – The University of Hartford track and field teams returned to the track at the Holy Cross Quad Meet on Sunday afternoon. The Hartford women ranked third out of six teams compiling 97 points on the afternoon. The men recorded 59 points and placed sixth overall.

Caitlyn Hauswirth dominated the pole vault with claimed the individual title in the event. The sophomore cleared a height of 3.04-meters.

Freshman Brittney Lawson inched her way towards a new school record in the hammer throw breaking her former record of 46.17-meters with a toss of 46.18-meters. She placed second overall in the event.

Miranda Wallace and Natalie Bonham ranked third and fourth, respectively, in the long jump. Wallace reached a distance of 4.82-meters while Bonham notched a leap of 4.78-meters. In the triple jump, Priscilla Appiagyei and Kristalena Lamore claimed two more top-five finishes in the field events for the Hawks. Appiagyei combined for 10.71-meters and took second place while Lamore took third with a distance of 9.85-meters.

On the track, Kaycee Martinez placed second in the 400-meter hurdles clocking-in at 1:05.55.

For the Hartford men, Anderson Emerole and Warren Lane finished two-three in the 400-meter run. Emerole finished in 49.45 while Lane completed the lap in 50.06. Emerole also took home a second place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.82.

Grad student Mike DuPaul was the second-best competitor in the 800-meter run. He raced to a finish of 1:54.06.

The men's 4x400-meter relay team tore up the track capturing a top finish and outrunning its opponents by almost two seconds with a time of 3:21.85.

Hartford returns to action with the Penn Relays. The three-day event begins on Thursday, April 22 and is held in Philadalphia, Pa.
