Day One Results
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of Hartford track and field teams returned to action on Saturday at the 2010 America East Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by the University of New Hampshire in Durham, N.H. The Hawks put down one school record in the opening day of the two-day event and three sprinters qualified for Sunday's finals.
Anderson Emerole ran a pair of qualifying times in the 200-meter and 400-meter events. In the 200-meter dash, the sophomore clocked in at 22.02 and ranked eighth overall. The sprinter went on to rank fifth in the preliminaries of the 400-meter dash, racing to a time of 48.55.
Priscilla Appiagyei also had an impressive performance on the track that came with a school record. The rookie tore up the track in the 400-meter run, completing the loop in 56.73 and bettering the former school record of 58.26 set last season. Her fifth place finish qualified her for the finals on Sunday.
Also qualifying for Sunday's finals was Ariana Bass. The senior recorded a time of 1:03.78 in the 400-meter hurdles and landed an eighth place finish in the event.
The 2010 Outdoor Track and Field Championship concludes on Sunday, May 2 beginning at 9 a.m. with the men's and women's heptathlon and decathlon.
