Complete Day One Results
DEDHAM, Mass. – The University of Hartford men's and women's track and field team opened competition at the 2010 Outdoor New England Track and Field Championships on Friday. Priscilla Appiagyei and Anderson Emerole, a pair of Hawks sprinters, both ran qualifying times in their respective events in day two of the three-day event.
Appiagyei, a rookie, earned a spot in Saturday's 400-meter finals with her fifth place. She clocked-in at 56.98 in Friday's preliminaries. Appiagyei took home fourth place honors in the 400-meters last week at the America East Championship.
On the men's side, Emerole completed the 400-meter run in 48.86, placing sixth overall while qualifying for the event's finals on Saturday. The sophomore was deemed All-Conference at the America East Championship last weekend after posting a third place finish in the event.
Freshman Brittney Lawson found success in the field events on Friday. The rookie threw the hammer 50.00-meters, destroying her own school record of 46.18-meters set this season. Lawson landed an 11th in the event place finish.
The Hawks wrap up competition at the New England Championship on Saturday, May 8.
