WEST HARTFORD, Conn. –
The Hartford women's basketball team dropped its third game of the season on Saturday afternoon falling to the #2 Connecticut Huskies 102-45 in front of a sold out (3,508) crowd at the Chase Family Arena at the Reich Family Pavilion. Hartford (8-3 overall) was led by senior Daphne Elliott who finished with 10 points.

Elliott was the only Hawk to record double digits with all 10 of her points coming in the opening half as she finished the first 20 minutes perfect from the field (3-of-3) with a pair of three pointers and also perfect at the free throw line in two attempts. Also among the scoring leaders for Hartford was senior Nikkia Smith who finished with eight points on 4-of-8 from the field, while fellow classmate Ruthanne Doherty and rookie Katie Roth each finished with six points.

Overall, Hartford finished the afternoon shooting 36.4 percent (16-of-44), while making three of nine from beyond the three point arc. The Hawks also finished 10-of-15 at the free throw line. The Huskies found the hoops at Hartford very friendly as they finished 38-of-61 for 62.3 percent, while making 12-of-20 from beyond the arc and 14-of-16 from the free throw line. Freshman Breanna Stewart led all players with 27 points.

The 102 points scored by the Huskies is the most ever scored by a Hartford opponent with the previous high of 99 against Vermont on January 4, 2000. The Hawks also allowed 99 points in a loss to Boston College in January of 1990.

Hartford will return to the court after a four-day break for Christmas when they travel to College Park, Md. for the Terrapin Classic. The final two non-conference games of the season will take place at Maryland with the first scheduled for Friday, December 28 against UMES at 2:30 p.m. Based on their result in the battle of the Hawks, Hartford will face either the host Terrapins (#9 AP, #8 USA Today Coaches Poll) or Brown on Saturday.
