Hawks and Under Armour Ink Multi-Year Partnership

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — The University of Hartford Department of Athletics today announced a multi-year partnership with Under Armour to become its official all-sports footwear, apparel, and equipment provider beginning with the 2016-17 season.

As part of the long-term agreement, Under Armour will exclusively design and supply the gameday uniforms, as well as footwear, apparel, and training equipment for each of Hartford's 17 men's and women's varsity athletics teams. The partnership begins on July 1, 2016.

"This agreement is the first time in UHart's 59 year history that athletics has had an all-inclusive sports apparel, footwear, and accessory deal. We're extremely excited to begin working with Under Armour," said Director of Athletics Anton Goff. "Aligning ourselves with Under Armour will have a huge impact, not only for our athletics department, but will also help us elevate the University's reputation and recognition both regionally and nationally."

Previously, several Hartford athletics teams had individual apparel and equipment contracts, and this marks the first department-wide agreement. Hartford joins Notre Dame, Maryland, South Carolina, Utah, Cincinnati, Temple, Seton Hall, Boston College, Wisconsin, and Auburn as part of the growing roster of Under Armour's NCAA partnerships.

Sixteen Hartford athletic teams will join the Under Armour partnership in July. Hartford women's basketball will finish out its existing contract and join Under Armour for the 2018-19 season.

"It is a big step for our department to have an agreement that supports all of our sports," Goff said. "Our goal is to not only build great teams at the University of Hartford, but also to create a unified athletics department that prides itself on representing our University with class and distinction. Having consistency across all sports and ensuring all our student-athletes have a great Division I experience is crucial to this goal."

WHAT THE COACHES ARE SAYING…
John Gallagher, Head Men's Basketball Coach
Under Armour has grown so much over the last few years, both in terms of the way they run as a company and in the quality of their products. In terms of basketball, they are making top-level products, and with their alignment with Stephen Curry, they are becoming more and more popular with basketball kids today. This is a great agreement for both our athletics department and our basketball program.

Tom Poitras, Head Men's Soccer Coach
Under Armour has the best technology and is the top gear on the market.  We are excited to partner with them to provide our student-athlete's with the best apparel and equipment to help us reach our goals.  Under Armour is the perfect match for Hartford Soccer, as we rebrand our entire athletic department and strive to win championships.

Mitch Kallick, Head Volleyball Coach
Signing a department-wide contract with Under Armour is indicative of two major things – first, the hard work and dedication Anton Goff and his staff have done to put the University of Hartford both on a national stage as well as their tireless efforts to continually advance the athletic department and our teams toward achieving America East Championships. Second, it shows the confidence and belief Under Armour has in the vision which Anton has set for the department as a whole, as well as seeing what all of us as an athletic department here at Hartford are building.  Under Armour as a brand chooses its schools carefully, and for them to agree to a department-wide contract is not only an honor, but puts Hartford Athletics on the forefront of apparel and equipment technology, design, and ingenuity.

Sarah Kalka, Head Softball Coach
We are thrilled to have Under Armour partner with us for a department-wide contract. For our student-athletes to be fully outfitted in UA gear will help provide them with a better experience at the University of Hartford. It's a big step for our department and our softball program going forward.
