Name: Kevin Veilleux

Veilleux earned first collegiate victory with his complete-game shutout of Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday afternoon ... the outing was the first nine-inning complete-game shutout for any Hartford pitcher in over two years ... Veilleux was perfect through six innings against the Knights, allowing just three balls out of the infield during that stretch while striking out three ... he finished with five strikeouts and no walks, not allowing any FDU baserunner past second base ... the five strikeouts marked a career high, which would promptly be broken in his next outing ... on Sunday, Veilleux made a relief appearance for starter Anthony Mannuccia ... he held the Maine lineup at bay after the Black Bears had posted at least 12 runs in both ends of the teams' doubleheader on Saturday ... over 6.1 innings of work, Veilleux allowed just one run, striking out six, which marked a new career-high ... Kaitlyn Meade, a rookie pitcher on the Hartford softball team, compiled a 2-1 record inside of the circle last week, helping the Hawks to a pair of conference wins over America East foes Stony Brook over the weekend … in three appearances, the Setauket, N.Y. native allowed six earned runs in 18.0 innings, good for a 2.33 ERA ... she scattered 15 hits and fanned six batters in the process ... Meade suffered a heartbreaker in her first appearance as Marist came away with a 3-2 walk-off win on Thursday ... the hurler struck out four and allowed three earned runs in 6.2 innings ...on Saturday , Meade blanked the Seawolves through six innings and gave up just four hits to help the Hawks post their first win in America East conference play ... Named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2011 America East Women’s Basketball Championship presented by Newman’s Own, Hall led the Hawks to their fifth America East Championship and sixth trip to the NCAA Championship where they will meet the Connecticut Huskies in the opening round … over the three games of the America East Championship, Hall averaged 10.3 points-per-game, putting up a high of 15 in the title game against Boston University … all of Hall’s efforts can’t be measured by stats as her defensive efforts through the three games of the championship were unmatched … in the title game alone, Hall held the Terriers leading scorer to just 3-of-18 from the field … in the three games combined, Hall shot 40 percent from the field (10-of-25), 4-of-7 from beyond the three point arc (.571) and 7-of-11 at the free throw line (.636) … she also grabbed 10 total boards, had four assists, four steals and a block …  Click Here for Alex's Complete Bio.

Zeglinski put up 20-plus points for a second and third consecutive game, leaving himself just one point shy of 2,000 for his career heading into the America East Championship ... he also hit 10 three-pointers during the week, giving him 392 for his career ... those 10 three-pointers moves him into 11th place all-time on the NCAA three-point list, eight behind Gerry McNamara of Syracuse (2002-06) for 10th, while he would become the third player in school history to score 2,000 or more points joining Mark Noon and Vin Baker ... For the second-straight week, distance runner Andrew Chalmers tore up the track in the 5,000-meter race at the Reebok-Boston Indoor Games hosted by Northeastern University on Friday ... after scoring first place at the Wesleyan Invitational a week ago, the junior turned in the third-best time at the Reebok Games when he crossed in 15:02.74 ... more impressively, Chalmers shaved almost 27 seconds off of his personal and school record time of 15:29.15 set earlier this season ...Chalmers helped the Hartford men compile 31 points which was good for 10th place overall out of 17 teams that earned points ... Zeglinski led the team in scoring in each of its three games last week ... he opened the week with 26 points as the Hawks knocked off Binghamton on the road on Martin Luther King Day ... Over a three-game stretch that spanned the final two weeks of 2010, sophomore Alex Hall averaged 13.3 points and 4.3 rebounds as the Hawks went 2-1 overall … she began that stretch with a 14-point performance, her fifth double digit game of the season, in a road loss at Hofstra … against the Pride she also grabbed eight boards … following a break for the Holidays, Hall came back to score nine points in a narrow victory over Coppin State, which served as the final tune-up before opening conference play … she then came out to lead the Hawks with 17 points, one shy of her season high, against Vermont in the conference opener … the 17 point performance against the Catamounts ties her with senior Mary Silvia and classmate Daphne Elliott for the team lead in double figure games this season, six … against the Catamounts, Hall finished the game shooting at an impressive 64 percent clip (7-of-11) … for the week, the Pembroke, N.H. native shot 48 percent overall (14-of-29), while also going 10-of-12 (83 percent) at the free throw line … for the season, Hall is currently third on the team in scoring at 8.5 points-per-game and third on the team in rebounding, averaging 4.2 rebounds-per-contest …  Click Here for Alex's Complete Bio.

Name: Alex Hall

Name: Morgan Sabia
Sport: Men’s Basketball

Hometown: San Anselmo, CA

Sabia continued his hot start to the 2010-11 season, scoring 23 points at Quinnipiac on Tuesday and adding 13 points against Dartmouth on Friday. He has led the team in scoring in each of its first three games. On Tuesday, Sabia put together his second-consecutive 23-point game, matching the career-high he set in the opener against CCSU thanks to 17 second-half points against the Bobcats. Sabia did much of his work despite playing with four fouls for the last nine minutes of the game. In the Hawks' home opener against Dartmouth on Friday night, Sabia once again led the team with 13 points on a tough shooting night for the Hawks. The senior continued his perfect season from the charity stripe, where he went 9-for-9 on the week (including 7-for-7 against Quinnipiac), and now sits at 11-for-11 for the year. He also grabbed six boards in each of the two games and leads the team overall with 8.3 rebounds a contest. Sabia wet career highs for points (23) and rebounds (13) in his third-career double-double against Central Connecticut State University in the opening game of the 2010-11 season ... he led all scorers in the Hawks' Connecticut 6 Classic matchup against the Blue Devils at the Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday ... overall, he was the only player in the game to record double figures in rebounding, including grabbing five of the Hawks' 17 offensive rebounds ... Hampton was the 13th overall runner to cross the finish line on Saturday, leading the men’s cross country team to an eighth place finish at the America East Championship held at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. … the senior’s time of 25:03.72 was one of four personal best times set by Hawks at the championship race … Hampton shaved more than 38 seconds off of his personal-best 8k time and posted his best ever finish at the conference championship ... Aneil Bhalla, who had also provided the clinching point against St. Francis, won 6-1, 6-4 to clinch the men's 6-1 triumph over Holy Cross. Pereira compiled eight points in Hartford's 6-2 victory over Vermont on Thursday afternoon … putting together her first collegiate hat trick and the first among conference players this season ... she also dished out two assists against Vermont, the second-most for any conference player in a game this season ... in total, her eight points was two more than any other America East player recorded in a single game this season, and the most by a conference player since 2004 ... all three goals came in a 20-minute span at the start of the second half, which helped give the Hawks a commanding 5-1 lead ... Moe's Player of the Week (October 4)

Name: D.J. Lantz
Sport: Men’s Golf
Year: Senior
Hometown: New London, NH

Lantz fired back-to-back one-under par rounds of 71 to take home the individual title at the Hartford Hawks Invitational at Bull’s Ridge Country Club in Kent, Conn. … Lantz’s performance helped lead the Hawks to a fourth place overall finish, among the 15 teams competing in the 36-hole event … In Monday’s first round, Lantz did his damage on the front nine, getting off to a strong start with an eagle 3 at the par-5 first hole In Tuesday’s final round, the senior showed his mastery of the entire Bull's Ridge course, going out with an even-par 36 before closing with a 1-under 35 on the back nine … he had just one bogey on the round and four on the tournament despite playing in sometimes torrential downpours and wet conditions throughout.

Name: Marco Neves

Neves advanced to the semifinals of the Flight A Singles draw at the UConn Invitational on the strength of two stirring tiebreak victories … He opened his run at the tournament by knocking off Bryant's Cristian Balestrieri, the 2006-07 ITA Regional Rookie of the Year and the Bulldogs' top player for the past three seasons … Neves won the first set, 6-4, but dropped the second, 1-6 to force a tiebreak ... down 8-3 in the tiebreak set, Neves battled back, chipping away and eventually emerging with a 12-10 set victory and a spot in the quarterfinals ... there, Neves went up against Quinnipiac senior Brian Mikkelson ... Mikkelson won the first set, 6-3, but Neves once again showed his resiliency as he grabbed a 6-3 triumph in the second set and moved to the semifinals with a 10-4 tiebreak victory … Neves opened the week with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Siena’s Dylan Roberts in the second singles position, helping lead the Hawks to a 4-3 victory in their first dual match of the 2010-11 season … Neves was also behind the Hawks winning the doubles point against Siena as he partnered with Eric Floum to defeat Peter Collins and Viakaran Kadaba at second doubles  ... Click Here for Marco's Complete Bio.

Nethersole earns a third-straight Moe’s Player of the Week honor after leading the Hawks to the team title at the Kristen Dickmann Memorial Tournament hosted by Navy this past weekend … Nethersole and the Hawks finished a four-match week with a 3-1 overall record, while the sophomore outside hitter was named the MVP of the tournament at Navy, marking the third in-season honor for the Cortlandt Manor, N.Y. native … Nethersole opened the week with 14 kills to lead the Hawks in their home opening win over CCSU … she then smashed a career-high 28 kills in a five-set win over Navy on Friday night, becoming the first player to record 28 or more kills since the 2002 season … the sophomore didn’t let up as she strung together her fourth and fifth-straight matches with double figure kills compiling 15 against UMES and 10 against Howard enroute to her MVP honor … she also racked up double figure digs in the final two matches to finish with double doubles in each (11 against UMES, 10 against Howard) … for the week, Nethersole led all players with 67 kills over four matches, averaging 3.53 kills-per-set and was second on the team with a .261 hitting percentage (25 errors, 161 total attacks) ... Click Here for Kami's Complete Bio.

Nethersole earns a second-straight Moe’s Player of the Week honor after leading the Hawks to their first victory in 2010 and a 2-2 overall record last week … she opened the week with a career performance against the Holy Cross Crusaders, willing the Hawks to victory in five sets … Nethersole finished with a career-high 21 kills, becoming just the second Hawk in the past four seasons to record at least 20 kills in a match … against Holy Cross she also set a new career mark with 17 digs, while hitting .291 for the match with five errors in 55 total attacks … she then closed out the week in impressive fashion, setting a career mark for hitting percentage at .455 on 19 kills and four errors in 33 total attacks … for the week, Nethersole led all players with 48 kills over three matches, averaging 4.00 kills-per-set and led the team with a .296 hitting percentage (14 errors, 115 total attacks) ... Click Here for Kami's Complete Bio.

Despite missing the first match of a four-match week, Nethersole led the Hawks hitters through the week, finishing with 32 total kills, averaging 3.20 kills-per-set she played in … in her first set of the week, Nethersole finished with eight kills and a .125 hitting percentage (5 errors, 24 total attacks) in the opening match of the UConn Toyota Classic against the host Huskies … she also added nine digs in the match … she followed that performance up with a nine kill effort against Southern Illinois and saw her new season high come in the final match of the tournament against Brown when she finished with 15 kills … she compiled her first double double of the season against the Bears adding 13 digs to her credit … Nethersole leads the Hawks through the first seven matches of the season with 64 kills and a .207 hitting percentage …she is also sixth on the team with 36 digs and has compiled five total blocks... Click Here for Kami's Complete Bio.
