Delva Scores Final Player of the Week Honor for 2009-10

West Hartford, CT – Senior forward/Center Diana Delva scored her fourth Player of the Week honor this season, earning the honor in the final week of the regular season. Delva's distinction comes after leading the Hawks to a school record 16-0 record in conference play and their 18th straight victory with wins at Albany and at home against Vermont on Senior Day.

Delva averaged a season-best 22.0 points-per-game after putting up 22 points in both of last weeks games. She began the week with a stellar performance at the free throw line, 10-of-11, to go along with a 6-of-11 effort from the field to set a new season best with her 22 points. She then matched that scoring output when she put the emotions of Senior Day behind her right from the start, going 8-of-8 from the field, while missing only two of her eight free throws. Against Albany, the Stamford, CT native also added seven rebounds, three steals, three blocks and two assists, while against Vermont she completed her team-best ninth double double with 10 rebounds.

Delva ended the regular season as the teams leading scorer, averaging 14.5 points-per-game. Her 44 points in the final week of the regular season put her in the eighth position in the single season scoring records with 405 points heading into the tournament. She also leads the team in rebounding at 8.3 rebounds-per-game, while leading the teams, the conference and is second in the nation in field goal percentage at 65.5 percent (156-of-238).

Hartford will next play as the #1 seed in the upcoming America East Men's and Women's Basketball Championship presented by Newman's Own. The Hawks will play their first game in the tournament on Friday at 6:00 p.m. against the winner of the first round game between #8 Maine and #9 New Hampshire.
