Women's Golf Opens Season at Tignanelli Towson Invitational

PHOENIX, Md.
– The University of Hartford women's golf team opened up the 2012 schedule Sunday at the Tignanelli Towson Invitational at the Towson Golf & Country Club. The Hawks finished the first 18 holes of the two-round tournament in 11th place as a group.
 
The Hawks combined for a score of 329 through the first round. St. John's University leads the 18-team field with a score of 305 after the first day.
 
Senior Sarah Sideranko led the Hawks on day one. The senior carded a 78 in the first round. Sideranko is tied for 12th in the field heading into Monday's final round.
 
Freshman Annamarie Mallat sits in a tie for 45th place after the first round. Mallat finished her first 18 holes as a collegian with a score of 83.
 
Senior Kirsten LaPointe and freshman Brooke Nethercott are tied for 50th place, one stroke behind Mallat at 84. Junior Aubrey Ungvarsky rounded out the Hawks on day one with a first-round 90.
 
The Hawks finish play at the Tignanelli Towson Invitational with the final round on Monday.
