Smith led the Hawks to a fourth place finish at the Hartford Hawks Invitational at Bulls Ridge Golf Club in South Kent, Conn. … Smith led all golfers heading into the final round, finishing under par in each of the first two rounds with a one-under par 71 over the first 18 holes and a four-under par 68 in the second round, which spanned two days … he would close out the tournament with a 75 in the final round to finish one stroke behind four players who tied for medalist honors with a 54-hole combined score of 214 … Smith has not finished lower than eight in the Hawks three events so far this fall with his lowest finish coming at the Battle at the Tetons where she finished tied for fourth overall … he opened that event with an impressive 18 holes at six-under par 66 ... Hamilton, also the league Player of the week, was one of two players to finish the week with four points, hers coming on a game-winning goal and a pair of assists, while she also earned Player of the Game honors in the Hawks conference opener at UMBC ... Hamilton's first point of the week came on a pass deep into Fairfield's territory that helped set up sophomore Arielle Aikens for the Hawks lone goal against the Stags, one that would help guarantee a stalemate against the in-state rival ... in the Hawks league opener, Hamilton provided what would prove to be the game-winning goal in the 16th minute ... she began the play at midfield as she lofted a pass to herself and scored to the upper right corner from 25 yards out ... Hamilton would then score a third point in the game when she assisted on an insurance goal in the 61st minute, helping feed junior Amelia Pereira who connected on her team-best fifth goal of the season ... Junior women’s golfer Sarah Sideranko scored medalist honors for the first time this season at the Dartmouth Invitational … Sideranko posted the lowest round of all golfers in the two-round event with a one-under par 71 over the first 18 holes ... her low of 71 at Dartmouth matches her career-low, which she set during her freshman season at the ECAC Division I Championships ... Sideranko finished the weekend with a 36-hole total of 149, a two-round career low for the New Britain, Conn. native ... her closest competition was a pair of Dartmouth players who finished tied for second with final scores of 154 ... Quinlan played a perfect 180 minutes this past week, making six total saves and recorded her third and fourth shoutouts of the season with 1-0 victories over Quinnipiac and Long Island ... against Quinnipiac she was not forced to make a save, as the Bobcats managed just three total shots ... against LIU she faced 12 total shots with six of them on goal, saving all ... she also provided a tremendous play in the final 90 seconds when she leapt through traffic and pulled a long cross from the sideline into her grasp, conserving her second shutout of the week … Quinlan has now gone more than 469 minutes without allowing a goal … she sports a 0.17 goals-against-average and has 22 total saves on the season for a .957 save percentage ... Pereira led the Hawks to a pair of victories, helping her team remain unbeaten on the season ... she finished the week with seven points on two goals and three assists ... in the first game of the week, Periera recorded the game-winning goal when she took advantage of a penalty kick in the 25th minute to put the Hawks ahead 1-0, and then assisted on a Caitlin Alves insurance goal in the 80th minute ... Pereira was then a part of three of the Hawks season-high five goal output against Temple on Sunday afternoon ... Pereira's first offense of the day came as an assist off a corner kick attempt that led to a Michele DeSanti goal in the 30th minute ... she then provided red-shirt senior Mary Beth Hamilton with a long pass ahead of the defense that led to the fourth goal of the game, before scoring her own goal in the 49th minute when she dribbled past the defense and chipped a pass over the defense to herself blasting a shot to the center of the net ... for the season, Pereira leads the team with eight points on two goals and four assists ... Nethersole led the Hawks in all three matches at this past weekend’s Army Invitational, earning her first All-Tournament honor of the season … the Hawks finished the three-match opening weekend tournament with a 2-1 overall record falling to Army (3-0) and defeating Bryant (3-2) and UMKC (3-0) … Nethersole finished the tournament with 52 total kills, averaging 4.73 kill-per-set … she was also fourth on the team with 33 digs over the three matches … she began the weekend with 12 kills and a .146 hitting percentage against the host Black Knights, while finishing with her first double double of the season adding a team-best 10 digs … she then compiled 26 kills, two shy of her career-high, in the five set win over Bryant … she finished that match with a weekend-best .279 hitting percentage with seven errors in 68 total attacks … she also finished with a double double against the Bulldogs, finishing with 16 digs … Nethersole then rounded out the weekend with 14 kills and a .205 hitting percentage against UMKC, while also adding seven digs ...
