Women’s Golf Spring Schedule Announced

West Hartford, CT - Head women's golf coach Donna Harris announced the 2010 spring schedule on Tuesday, highlighted by the annual Hartford Invitational. The Hawks will play a total of six matches in the spring.

The women's golf team will open the spring season with a pair of matches in Orlando, FL during spring break. The first will be a tri-match with Rutgers and Siena on March 15, while the Hawks will take on the Saints again on March 16. Both matches will be played on yet to be determined courses.

The Hawks will play in three regular season tournament before closing out the season with the MAAC Championship. The first Invitational will be the Hoya Invitational hosted by Georgetown University. The three-day event will begin on March 28 at the Four Streams Golf Club in Beallsville, MD.

The second tournament will be the annual Hartford Invitational hosted by the Hawks at the Rockledge Golf Course in West Hartford, CT on April 11-13. Last season, the Hawks finished fifth out of six teams competing in the Hartford Invitational, in which the University at Albany took home the team title.

The final tournament will be a quad match at Central Connecticut State University. The two-day event will begin on April 17 and will be played at the Stanley Quarter Golf Course in New Britain, CT.

Hartford will close out its regular season with its first MAAC Conference Championship at the Celebration Golf Club in Celebration, FL. The Hawks joined the MAAC in June of 2009 along with former America East members Boston University and University at Albany. The six team MAAC Championship will allow for an automatic qualifier for the NCAA Championship for the first place team beginning with the 2012 season.

The women's golf team will be looking to continue its success from the fall season where they had four top-five finishes, including first place honors at the CCSU Shootout and the CCSU Fall Invitational. The Hawks had two players record individual medalist honors in three matches, including rookie Sarah Sideranko who won the ECAC Championship and the CCSU Fall Invitational.
