Women’s Golf Tops CCSU in Dual Match Play

, CTThe University of Hartford women's golf team (332) defeated the Central Connecticut Blue Devils (355) in dual match play and the final match for Hartford before the MAAC Conference Championship.

Freshman Sarah Sideranko led the Hawks in the one-round event at the Wethersfield Country Club. She finished the 18-hole match with an nine over par 80, while the Hawks finished with four golfers in the top-five overall.

Finishing second for Hartford was sophomore Emily Linn who finished two strokes behind Sideranko. Kara Sikorski finished third for Hartford, tied with the Blue Devils Stephanie Bednar with an 84 in the one round match. Sikorski tied with Sideranko for the lowest nine-hole score of the match with a 39. Sideranko saw her lone nine-hole combined score come on the front nine, while Sikorski's came on the back nine.

 

Rounding out the top five was Paige Gauthier, who also rounded out the Hawks scorers. She finished with an 18-hole 86, which took home sole possession of fifth place overall. Rounding out the Hawks five was Kirsten LaPointe who finished tied for 10th overall with a 93.

Individually for the Hawks Marissa Kallaugher finished tied for sixth overall with Central's Anna Ausiano, both carding an 88. Sadie Heald took home eight place honors, tied with Central's Natalie Jones, finishing with a 90. Catie Dillman rounded out the Hawks golfers with a 107.

Hartford will play their final match of the regular season at the MAAC Conference Championship at Celebration Golf Course in Celebration, FL. The MAAC Championship will be the first for Hartford who joined the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in July of 2009. The MAAC Championship is scheduled for 54 holes beginning on Friday, April 30.
