GCAA Division I PING All-Region Teams
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Golf Coaches Association of America announced its 2010 Division I PING All-Region teams last week, and Hartford's
Nick MacDonald earned a spot on the Northeast team. The senior, who was one of 153 honorees representing six regions, earned the distinction for the third time in his collegiate career.
MacDonald led the Hawks with four top-10 finishes, including a seventh-place finish at the America Sky Championship to conclude the season. That came on the heels of a sixth-place tie at the New England Division I Championships on April 10-11. His 75.42 stroke average paced the team, and he was one of two Hawks - along with fellow senior Zack Ungvarsky - to play in all 26 rounds in which Hartford competed.
MacDonald was Hartford's most consistent player throughout the season, firing rounds in the seventies in eight of his final nine collegiate rounds. He also carded the best round of the season for Hartford, a 65 at the ODU/Seascape Collegiate Invitational in October.
MacDonald was named to the PING New England Division I All-Region Team in his first two seasons in West Hartford. The Lebanon, N.H. native was named to the All-America Sky All-Tournament Team thanks to his seventh-place finish at the championship tournament. He was also America Sky Player of the Week after his performance at the ODU/Seascape Collegiate Invitational.
