EDISON, NJ - Four members of the University of Hartford women's golf team were named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's 2009-10 Academic Honor Roll. In total, the MAAC conference honored 1,054 student-athletes from among its 22 member institutions and associate members, of which Hartford is an associate member in women's golf.
To be eligible for the MAAC Academic Honor Roll, an athlete must hold a grade point average of 3.20 or higher on a 4.0 scale and be in his or her second year of athletic eligibility. The Honor Roll is open to both full-time and associate members of the MAAC with athletes represented in all 24 sports that the conference sponsors.
All four of the Hawks honorees were senior members of the women's golf program. Leading the way was Sadie Heald, who graduated with a 3.90 cumulative grade point average as a biology major. Kara Sikorski graduated in May with an elementary and special education degree, sporting a 3.56 grade point average.
Rounding out the Hawks honorees were Catie Dillman and Paige Gauthier. Dilliman finished with a 3.35 GPA as an entrepreneurial studies major, while Gauthier finished with a 3.32 cumulative GPA as a human services major.
Hartford joined the MAAC as an associate member in the summer of 2009, competing in its first MAAC Championship this past spring. The Hawks finished third overall among the six teams competing. Joining Hartford in the MAAC for women's golf is University at Albany, Boston University, Fairfield University, Niagara University and Siena College. Individually, Harford's Sarah Sideranko earned individual medalist honors in her first ever collegiate conference championship, finishing six strokes better than her closest competition
