WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Head Coach Michael Raymond announced the schedules for the Hartford men's and women's tennis teams on Wednesday. Both teams open the fall season at the Fairfield Doubles Invitational on September 11, and will play their first America East matches on April 16 against Binghamton and Stony Brook.
“Once again, we are fielding an incredibly demanding schedule,” Raymond said. “We have increased our fall tournament competition to better prepare our players, as well as competing against several NCAA Tournament participants. I am looking forward to seeing the players work their way through some tough competition.”
In addition to the Fairfield Doubles Invitational, the men's team will play at the UConn Invitational and the Quinnipiac Invitational during the fall. After their ITA Regional tournament at Yale, the men will close out the fall with the Connecticut College Championships, also held in New Haven. The women will participate in the New England Championships in October before the fall-ending ITA Regional tournament at Dartmouth.
Hartford opens the spring season with four matches – two for the men and two for the women – at the East Hartford Tennis Club, an indoor facility which will allow the Hawks to open spring play on February 25.
In total, the Hawks will play host for 12 matches during the 2010-11 season, two more than last season. The Hawks will make use of three different home facilities. In addition to the Hartford Tennis Courts on campus and the indoor East Hartford Tennis Club, the Hawks will open America East play against Binghamton and Stony Brook at Hall High School in West Hartford on April 16.
Hartford closes out its season from April 29-May 1 at the America East Championships, to be held in New Haven.
