Hartford Volleyball Falls on the Road at New Hampshire

Durham, NH ? The Hartford Hawks volleyball team dropped a three-game road match at America East rival New Hampshire on Friday night. The Hawks were led by Jennifer Monroy and Hallie Fullagar in the match. Monroy finished with eight kills while Fullagar added seven. The Hawks are now 7-13 overall and 0-6 in America East action while New Hampshire improves to 8-13 overall and 3-3 in conference play.


The Hawks fell by scores of 30-13, 30-14 and 30-25, finishing the match with only 27 total kills. The Hawks offensive leaders were Monroy and Fullagar with Erin Macro also adding six kills to the match. Sarah Rasor continues to run the Hawks offense, finishing with 17 assists, while Lauren Flores led the Hawks defense with 13 total digs. Monroy finished just behind her with nine digs, while two other players added six, Fullagar and Rasor.

 

The Hawks only lead of the match came in the third game and in the early going. Hartford fell behind early on a kill from the Wildcats Sarah Rehn, but immediately won the serve. After tying the score at one the Hawks took a 4-2 lead on back-to-back kills from Fullagar and Macro.The Wildcats tied the score at six and again at seven before using three-straight three point runs to pull ahead 13-9. The Hawks battled to tie the game at 17 on a New Hampshire error and again at 18 on a kill from Teri Connolly. A six point run for the Wildcats put them back ahead by 24-20 and despite coming within one point of tying the game again the Wildcats hung tough and worked out the 30-25 final for the match victory.


The Hawks will be back in action on Sunday, when they travel to Binghamton for a 1:00 p.m. America East match.
