Hartford Men's Soccer Drops Overtime Game at Vermont

Burlington, VT ? The University of Hartford men's soccer team dropped an America East game on Saturday at Vermont, in its sixth overtime game of the season. The Hawks drop to 3-5-4 overall and 1-3 in conference action, while the Catamounts improve to 7-4-3 overall and 4-0-1 in America East play.

 

The game was played in the midfield for the majority of regulation and overtime with the teams finishing virtually equal in shots during regulation, the Hawks with seven and Vermont with eight. Hartford finished the first half with only two shots, compared to three for Vermont. The Hawks then out shot the Catamounts in the second half, finishing with five, compared to only three from Vermont.

 

The overtime was played in the majority of Vermont offensive end with the Catamounts taking five shots and connecting on one of them to remain undefeated in conference play. The game-winning goal came from T.J. Gore, his third goal of the season. Connor Tobin and Jordan Crasilneck each recorded assists on the play. The scoring play started with a corner kick into the box which was volleyed around before Gore was able to send it into goal, 8:59 into the first overtime.

 

The Catamounts did have a legitamtie scoring attempt in the first half, which was knocked off the goal line by the hawks Dan Lowe. Hartford had three players finish with two shots each, Lowe, Oswald Adu and Kenniel Martin. For the game, the Hawks finished with eight total shots while the Catamounts finished with 13. Hartford keeper Matt Glaeser finished with a pair of saves while Lowe's save was credited to the team. Roger Scully recorded only one save for Vermont.

 

Hartford will return home on Wednesday to battle Stony Brook in an America East match-up at 6:00 p.m. at Al-Marzook Field.
