Hawks Volleyball Falls at Albany

Albany, NY ? The Hartford volleyball team fell to 7-9 overall this season with a 3-0 loss at the University at Albany on Saturday night. The Hawks are now 0-4 in America East play, while the Great Danes improve to 10-8 overall and 3-1 in conference action with the victory. The Hawks dropped the three-game match with scored of 30-18, 30-16, 30-18.

 

The Hawks never led in any of the game against the Great Danes. The closest Hartford came to Albany was in the early going of the second and third games. Hartford pulled within one at 7-6 on a service ace for Lauren Flores. Albany wasn't going to rest, using a three point run ad then a five point run to take control.

 

In the third game the Hawks pulled it close twice. Ljiljana Zecevic served back-to-back aces to pull within one at 7-6 before the Great Danes scored the next two points. Hartford then pulled it close again with a tip over kill from setter Sarah Rasor, putting the score at 9-8. Albany then used a flurry of small runs to take control of the game and the match.

 

The Hawks were led by Jennifer Monroy, who finished with seven kills. Freshman Erin Macro was the second leading attacker with five kills. Rasor finished the match with 18 assists while adding four kills and recording no errors on seven total attacks for a .571 attack percentage.

 

The Hawks will next play at St. Peter's on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m.
