The University of Hartford women's tennis team played its first dual match of the season, dropping a 5-2 decision to the Holy Cross Crusaders on Tuesday afternoon. The Hawks took home victories in the number one and two singles spots but fell short in the doubles and remaining singles positions. Hartford is now 0-1 on the season.

The Hawks Racquel Casino and Stephanie Schnobel proved too much for the Crusaders top-two singles players, Meg Moran and Ivetter Konopka respectively. Casino and Schnobel both needed only two games to defeat their opponents, Casino by scores of 6-0, 6-1 and Schnobel by scores of 6-0, 6-2. The win for Schnobel is her first collegiate singles victory.

The Hawks dropped the two double points and fell just short of picking up a third point at third singles when Kasey Michels forced Meredith Bacon to a third set before falling short in the playoff set. Liz Weiner and Michelle Tafur played the fourth and fifth singles spots for Hartford.

The women's tennis team will be back in action on October 8, when they host Siena in a dual match that was rescheduled from this past weekend. That match is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
