Hawks Volleyball Drops Opener at Columbia Tournament 3-0

New York, NY - The University of Hartford volleyball team opened play at the Columbia Volleyball Tournament with a 3-0 loss to Hofstra on Friday afternoon. The Hawks dropped the match by scores of 30-21, 30-19 and 30-15. Hartford will play two matches to close out the tournament on Saturday, the first against the host Lions at 1:00 p.m. and then meet the New Jersey Institute of Technology to close out the tournament at 3:00 p.m.

 

Hartford was led in the match by a trio of players. Senior Teri Connolly, junior Jennifer Monroy and freshman Maddison Mollyneux all finished the match with four kills. Junior Sarah Rasor also led the team with 12 assists.

 

Hofstra was led by Elizabeth Curly who finished with 13 total kills and only two errors in her 26 total attacks, to finish with a .423 attack percentage. The Pride's offensive charge was led by Shellane Ogoshi who finished a perfect four-for-four in attacks while also dishing out 18 assists.
