Orono, ME - The University of Hartford men's soccer team dropped its first conference game of the season 2-1 at Maine on Wednesday night. The Hawks fall to 6-4-2 overall and 1-1-1 in conference action, while the Black Bears are now 3-9-1 overall and 1-2-1 in America East action.
All the scoring came within the first 21 minutes with the first goal of the game scored on an own goal against the Hawks. Oswald Adu tied things up in the 14th minute when he connected with Gary Muir.
The Black Bears game-winning goal came from Dimitri Anastasiou, his fourth of the season off a pass from Jordan Antonucci. Hartford outshot the Black Bears by a 15-10 margin, taking more shots than Maine in both halves. Matt Glaeser finished the game with four saves, while Nemanja Kostic finished with five for Maine. Muir led Hartford's attack with six shots, followed by Daniel Antunez with three and Adu and Sam Groves each added two.
The Hawks return home to take on Vermont as part of Alumni Weekend festivities at the University of Hartford on Saturday. Hartford will welcome the Catamounts to Al-Marzook Field for a 2:00 p.m. start.
