New Britain, CT - The University of Hartford volleyball team dropped a four-game match to in-state rival Central Connecticut State University on Wednesday night. The Hawks are now 7-16 overall and will return to conference play, hosting Stony Brook on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. The Blue Devils won the first two games of the match by scores of 30-26 and 30-23, before the Hawks used the 10-minute break to their advantage, coming out for a 30-27 victory. CCSU sealed the match with a 30-21 score in game four.
The Hawks were led by senior Jennifer Monroy who finished with 14 kills, one of two players to record double digits. Monroy finished with a .235 attack percentage with six errors in 34 total attacks. Joining Monroy in double figures was Erin Macro who finished with 12 kills. Hallie Fullagar finished just under double figures with nine kills. Overall the Hawks hit just .103 from the floor with 50 kills and 35 errors in 146 total attempts.
Senior Sarah Rasor served as the team's primary setter for the first time in 2007, finishing with 38 assists. She also added three kills in five total attempts with one error, to lead the team in hitting with a .400 average. Defensively the Hawks were led by Rasor, who complete her first double double of the season with 10 digs. Fullagar and Flores finished second on the team defensively, each adding seven digs. Hartford finished the match with nine aces. Monroy led the team in that category with three, three other players each had two.
