Boston, MA - The University of Hartford men's and women's cross country teams ran at the New England Championships on Saturday afternoon. The women's team finished in 33rd place overall, out of 44 teams, while the men's team finished in 38th place overall out of 43 teams. The Hawks will next run at the Central Connecticut State University mini meet on October 20th, the final warm-up before the America East Championships.
The women's team was led by sophomore Stefanie Lombardi. She finished just under two minutes behind the race leader with a time of 19:28 in 56th place overall. America East member, Boston University's Andrea Walkonen took home individual honors, finishing in a time of 17:36.
Also running for the women's team was Elizabeth Foster, who finished in 169th place (20:39); Mary Bumiller, who finished in 177th place (20:45); Leanna Godfrey, who finished in 200th place (21:02); Ariana Bass, who finished in 218th place (21:15); Jennifer Krupski, who finished in 227th place (21:26) and Kaycee Martinez, who finished in 241st place with a time of 21:42.
The men's team was led by freshman Jonas Hampton who finished in 165th place overall, 162 in the scoring column. He finished the course in a time of 27:55, just over three minutes behind the race leader, Patrick Mellea of Boston College.
Other Hawks runners included Michael Tiroletto (222nd place, 29:00), Matthew Le (235th place, 29:27), Michael Dionne (261st place, 30:38), Frederic Langford (273rd place, 31:46) and Jordan Pike in 280th place with a time of 32:30.
