WEST HARTFORD ? Four players scored in double figures as the University of Hartford men's basketball team picked up its first win of the 2007-08 season, 70-55, against Sacred Heart University on Wednesday night at Chase Arena at Reich Family Pavilion.

Corey Hassan led Sacred Heart (0-3 overall) with 14 points and Chauncey Hardy added 10.

Neither team led by more than five points in the first half. Junior Warren McLendon scored six of Hartford's first eight points but then went to the bench after picking up a foul. He picked up his second personal later in the half and played only seven minutes of the opening stanza. The Hawks took a 30-27 lead into the locker room at the half.

Sacred Heart took the lead briefly in the early stages of the second half. The Pioneers went ahead 37-36 on a three-pointer by Hassan with 17:24 to play, capping an stretch of eight straight points from the former Boston University Terrier. Sacred Heart led by three points when sophomore Joe Zeglinski drove the lane and was fouled on a layup. He made the free throw to tie the game at 41-41 with 15:37 remaining, and the Hawks took the lead for good on their next possession when Zeglinski buried a jumper.

Hartford pulled away behind the outside shooting of Glowiak. He drained three treys in a two-minute span and later added a reverse layup on a bounce pass from freshman Andres Torres to give the Hawks a 56-46 lead with 10:08 to go.
