Hawks Fall to #1 Connecticut in Final Non-Conference Game

The University of Hartford women's basketball team dropped its final non-conference game of the season at #1 Connecticut, 70-24, on Saturday night in front of 14,851 at the XL Center. Hartford was led by senior guard Jamie McCabe who finished with nine points. The Hawks are 10-3 overall, while the Huskies remain undefeated at 10-0.

The Hawks struggled from the field all night, but especially in the second half, scoring just seven points in the final 20 minutes. Hartford was held to 13 percent for the game (7-of-54) and seven percent in the second half (2-of-28). McCabe was the Hawks only major threat connecting on three of eight from beyond the arc.

Erica Beverly finished with six points for Hartford, all at the free throw line, while Danielle Hood was held to single digits for only the second time this season, finishing with five points, all in the first half. The Hawks also dropped the battle of the boards 55-36, led by Hood and Beverly, who each finished with six. The 24 point output was the lowest scoring output for Hartford in the history of the program.

Hartford will open conference play with a road game at Boston University on January 5 at 1:00 p.m. at Case Gynasium.
