Men's Lacrosse Overpowered 16-4, At #2 Albany

 

Albany, NY ? The University of Hartford Men's Lacrosse team was defeated 16-4 in their conference opener at second ranked Albany.  The Great Danes had nine different players with goals on the afternoon in front of a crowd of 680.

 

The Hawks (1-5 overall, 0-1 America East) were led by Brian Tilley who had two goals on the day with Rob Steffens and Jason Whitehouse each contributing with one goal each.

 

Albany (6-0 overall, 1-0 America East) was held to just one goal in the first period with Merrick Thomson picking up an unassisted score at the 9:17 mark, his first of four goals on the day.  The Great Danes would continue their scoring with the first two goals of the second period before the Hawks would break into the scoring column with an unassisted goal by Tilley to make the score 3-1.  After four more goals by Albany, Tilley would add his second goal of the day for the Hawks with an assist from Daniel Clough.

 

The Hawks would manage to get two more scores while Albany would add nine.  With 4:38 remaining in the third period Whitehouse would get a score off an assist from Steffens.  Steffens would then pick up Hartford's final score of the game with 12:04 remaining in the fourth.

 

The Great Danes held the advantage on shots 42-27 as well as groundballs 43-31.  Jon McMahon played the entire game in goal for the Hawks and managed to pick up 12 saves on the afternoon.

 

Hartford will next be in action when they return to West Hartford for a match-up against Yale University on Tuesday, March 27 at 6:00 p.m.
