LAX Falls at Binghamton

 

VESTAL, NY - The University of Hartford lacrosse team dropped a 16-4 decision at Binghamton University on Saturday afternoon at the East Gym Complex.

The Hawks (1-7 overall, 0-2 AE) fell behind 5-0 before scoring on a shot from junior Brian Tilley with 5:47 to play in the second quarter. Senior Tom Harris added another score before the half on a feed from junior Steve Roop, though Hartford trailed 8-2 heading into the locker room at intermission.

Binghamton (2-4 overall, 1-0 AE) put the game away in the early stages of the second half, scoring the first six goals of the third quarter to take a 14-2 lead. Junior Jonathon Timkey snapped the scoring streak with a goal at the 6:52 mark, and the Hawks would only add one more goal in the fourth quarter on a shot by senior Bill Dean from Roop.

Binghamton's Chris Mulheron and Jake Boyce each netted hat tricks while Mulheron also added a pair of assists. Drew Wichmann also finished with a game-high six points on two goals and four assists.

Sophomore Jon McMahon played the entire game in goal and finished with 15 saves. Larry Kline (3 GA, 1 S) picked up the win in goal for Binghamton and played all but the final 15 minutes.

Binghamton outshot Hartford by a 52-14 margin and held a 49-29 edge in ground balls. The Bearcats also won 17 of 23 faceoffs.

Hartford next begins a four-game homestand against Siena College on Tuesday, April 3 at 3:30 p.m.
