Baltimore, MD ? The University of Hartford Baseball team swept UMBC in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.  The Hawks had a commanding win in the first game succeeding the Retrievers 11-4.  The second game was much closer than the first but ended in the same result for the Hawks with a 2-1 win.

Hartford (6-16 overall, 3-0 America East) had eight different batters with an RBI in the first game as well as ten different Hawks with a hit.  Hartford scored a total of ten runs in the first two innings.  Leading the way for Hartford was Chris Hebert who finished the first game with two hits and three RBI.  Also making contributions for the Hawks was Erik Price with two RBI on two hits and Brady Stouffer who had three hits for the game.

Stouffer got things going for the Hawks with a leadoff single in the top of the first before Ben Sobocinski would slap an RBI double to left field for the first run of the game. Bill Perry would then keep things going with a two-out single in the first.  Perry would score off a Ryan Crowley double to centerfield.  Price would then hit an RBI single to score Crowley while Hebert scorched a two RBI single to centerfield to make it 5-0 in favor of the Hawks.

The Hawks bats did not cool down in the second inning scoring five more runs to extend their lead to 10-0.  UMBC (8-16 overall, 0-3 America East) was able to crack into the run column in the bottom of the second starting out with a two run homerun from Tom Meaney.  The Retrievers would manage to add two more runs to the scoreboard in the inning but would not score for the remainder of the game.
