Boston, MA - The University of Hartford volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to close out the Harvard Crimson Classic on Saturday. The Hawks dropped a 3-1 decision to the host (22-30, 23-30, 30-26, 9-30) before falling to Dartmouth 3-0 (30-21, 30-25, 30-23). The Hawks are now 6-10 overall and will next play on Tuesday evening at Sacred Heart.
For the day, the Hawks were led by Jennifer Monroy who finished with 12 kills against Harvard and 11 against Dartmouth. For her efforts over the weekend she was named to the All-Tournament team, her third such honor this season. Also posting double digit kills for the Hawks against Harvard was Hallie Fullagar with 10. Katie O'Hara finished with 14 total kills on the day, seven in each match.
Against Harvard, Maddison Molyneux was the Hawks top hitter with three kills and no errors in nine total attacks for a .333 attack percentage. As a team, the Hawks his .053 with 47 kills, 39 errors in 150 total attacks. Lindsay Ford finished the match with 34 assists on the Hawks 47 total kills. She also added a kill and six digs.
Defensively, the Hawks were led by Monroy and Fullagar who both finished with 13 digs, completing the double double. Also recording double digit digs was Sarah Boss and Megan Schauffele who each had 10. The Hawks served nine aces against the Crimson with Monroy, Fullagar and Boss recording two each.
Against Dartmouth Monroy finished with a .212 attack percentage. She ended with 11 kills, four errors in 33 total attacks. Molyneux was again hot from the floor with a .400 attack percentage, three kills, one error in five attacks. Also hitting well for the Hawks was Ford, who finished with a .667 attack percentage on two kills, no errors in three hits.
Ford again led the team with 30 assists as the team's primary setter. Defensively, Schauffele and Ford led the Hawks with nine and seven digs respectively. Flores finished the Dartmouth match with three aces, while the team recorded nine.
The Hawks will next play at in-state rival Sacred Heart on Tuesday, September 25 at 7:00 p.m.
