Volleyball Falls in Conference Opener 3-0 at Albany

, NY - The University of Hartford volleyball team dropped its America East opener 3-0 to the Albany Great Danes on Friday night. Hartford was led by a stellar hitting performance from Erin Macro. Macro finished with 11 kills, no errors in 17 attempts for a .647 hitting percentage. The Hawks are now 7-11 overall and 0-1 in conference play. 

Macro was tied with Jennifer Monroy for the team lead with 11 kills. Monroy also added 10 digs for her fifth double double of the season. Also hitting well was Hallie Fullagar who finished with eight kills. Monroy finished the game with a .182 attack percentage (five errors, 33 total attacks), while Fullagar hit .133 (four errors, 30 attempts). As a team the Hawks hit .192 with 42 total kills, 17 errors in 130 attacks. 

Lindsay Ford led the Hawks with 25 assists. She shared setting duties with Sarah Rasor who finished with nine assists. Defensively the Hawks were led by Fullagar who finished with a game-high 16 digs. 

Hartford's best hitting game came in the first game where they hit .333, finishing with 17 kills and only three errors in 42 attacks. Amanda Cowdrey led all players with 16 kills for the Great Danes. 

The Hawks will be back in action on Friday when they open conference play at home against Binghamton at 6:00 p.m. The Hawks will play a pair of conference games next week, welcoming UMBC to West Hartford on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
