Men's Tennis Drops 6-1 Decision in Spring Opener to Fairfield

Glastonbury, CT - The University of Hartford men's tennis team opened its spring schedule with a dual match against the Fairfield Stags at the Glastonbury Tennis Club on Saturday afternoon. Hartford picked up its first individual point since September 26 with a win at #1 singles for Artur Muller. The Hawks are 0-5 in dual match action in 2007-08.

In singles play, the Stags picked up the first five points before Muller's victory at number one singles came over Robert Ferrante. Muller won 6-2 in the first set and forced a second set tie breaker, before dropping an 11-13 decision. The final set again needed a tie break with the Muller winning 7-6 (7-3).

Fairfield picked up the doubles points with wins at second and third doubles. Tim Glickman and Aaron Kooden dropped the second doubles match to Glen Gannon and Balazs Szikla by an 8-2 decision, while Filip Miletic and Edward Hoey fell to Mark Kremheller and Robert Kelly in the third doubles match by an 8-0 margin. Muller and William White never started their doubles match at number one doubles due to Muller's long singles match.

The men's team will not play again until February 15, when they welcome Binghamton University to the Glastonbury Tennis Club for a 12:00 p.m. start.
