WSoccer Earns First Conference Win at Vermont

BURLINGTON, VT ? The University of Hartford women's soccer team picked up its first conference victory of the season on Thursday afternoon with a 2-0 win over the University of Vermont.

Hartford freshman Breeanna Robinson scored both goals as the Hawks improved to 4-4-3 overall and 1-1-0 in the America East. Vermont dropped to 2-9-0 and 0-1-0 in the conference.

Robinson put the Hawks on the board in the 12th minute, scoring off the rebound of her own shot. She went one-on-one with Vermont goalkeeper Eliza Bradley and put her initial shot on goal; Bradley made the save but couldn't keep the handle, and Robinson buried the loose ball into the back of the net.

The Hawks led 1-0 heading into the half, and Robinson added her second goal less than three minutes into the second stanza. Senior Kacey Busque chipped a pass into the box and Robinson one-touched it past the goalkeeper from 12 yards out. The goal was Robinson's fourth of the season and marked her second career multi-goal game.

Freshman Lauren Brodeur made seven saves in goal to preserve the shutout, her fourth of the season. Hartford held a commanding advantage in shots (21-8) and corner kicks (6-1). Bradley finished with two saves for the Catamounts.

Hartford returns home to face UMBC on Sunday, October 5 at 2 p.m.
