Volleyball Falls to Stony Brook in Three


West Hartford, CT - The University of Hartford volleyball team dropped a three-set match to the Stony Brook Seawolves in the second of two meetings between the America East foes this weekend.  Hartford fell by scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 30-28 on Sunday.  Hartford falls to 5-20 overall and 0-7 in conference play, while Stony Brook improves to 11-14 overall with a 2-5 record in the America East.

 

Hallie Fullagar led Hartford with double-digit kills, recording 11 total.  She finished the match with eight errors in 31 attempts for a .097 attack percentage.  Michelle Cordell led the team with a .400 attack percentage with two errors in 10 attempts. 

 

Erin Macro also hit well for the Hawks, recording a .250 attack percentage with nine kills with three errors in 22 attempts.  Lindsay Ford finished the match with a team-leading 32 assists.  She also added one block and four kills.  Hartford's best hitting set came in the third set, where they connected on 19 kills in 38 total attacks.

 

Defensively, the Hawks were led by Danielle Etta and Sarah Boss, who finished with 14 and nine digs, respectively.  Michelle Cordell added a team-leading three block assists for the defense.  As a team, the Hawks hit .142 with 40 total kills, 25 errors in 106 total attacks.

 

Stony Brook finished the match hitting .297 as a team, with 39 kills and 12 errors in 91 total attacks.  Gulce Dikecligil led the team in hitting with a match-high 13 kills and a .300 attack percentage (four errors, 30 total attacks).  Defensively, the Seawolves were led by Jessica Graham who recorded a match-high six block assists.

 

Hartford returns to action on Wednesday with a non-conference match-up at Providence at 7:00 p.m.  The Hawks will then return home on Friday to resume America East Conference action versus Binghamton.
