Providence, RI - The University of Hartford volleyball team snapped a nine-match losing skid with a three-set (25-18, 28-26, 30-28) win Big East foe Providence College on Wednesday night in Providence, RI. The Hawks were led by junior Maddison Molyneux, the only player with double figure kills, who added 10 kills. Hartford improves to 6-20 overall.
Molyneux was one of the leading hitters with a .286 attack percentage with just two errors in 28 total attacks. Erin Macro finished second on the team with nine kills and finishing with a .136 attack percentage, six errors in 22 total attempts. As a team, the Hawks hit .175 for the match, combining for 41 kills, 20 errors in 120 total attacks.
Hallie Fullagar finished with eight kills, while Lindsay Makowicki added six. Joining them with productive hitting nights was Michelle Cordell and Lindsay Ford who each finished with four kills. Cordell finished with a .308 attack percentage, going errorless in 13 total attacks. Ford led the way in hitting with a .333 attack percentage with one errors in nine total attacks.
Ford led the team with 24 assists, while Bettina Woodman led Hartford defensively with 14 digs, one of two players in double figures. Joining her was Danielle Etta who finished with 11 digs. Macro, Ford, Fullagar and Sarah Boss all finished with six digs.
Cordell led the team on the block with three total blocks, while fellow classmate Makowicki was second with two. The Hawks finished with eight total aces with Boss leading the team with three, while Macro added two.
The Hawks set was the most productive, finishing with a combined hitting percentage of .310 with 13 kills, four errors in 25 total attacks. The Hawks combined for 18 kills in set two and 13 in set three.
The Hawks return home for three-straight matches. The first will be an America East tilt against Binghamton University on Halloween night, October 31, at 6:00 p.m. at Reich Family Pavilion.
