West Hartford, CT ? The Hartford women's volleyball team dropped a three-set America East match (15-25, 21-25, 16-25) to the Binghamton Bearcats on Wednesday, October 31 in West Hartford. The Hawks fall to 6-21 on the season and 0-8 in America East play, while Binghamton improves to 12-12 overall and 6-1 in conference action.
Hartford was led by juniors Erin Macro and Hallie Fullagar who both finished with eight kills. Michelle McDonough led the Bearcats with a match-high 18 kills. Macro led the hitters with a .154 attack percentage with four errors in 26 total attacks. Also hitting well was Lindsay Makowicki and Maddison Molyneux with five and four kills respectively.
The Hawks offensive charge was led by sophomore setter Lindsay Ford who finished with 27 assists, while Sarah Boss added two. Defensively the Hawks were led by freshman libero Danielle Etta, who finished with 12 digs, a match-high. The Hawks blockers were led by For who finished with three total, a solo block and two block assists.
The Hawks combined for a .043 attack percentage (30 kills, 25 errors, 115 total attacks) with their best set coming in the middle. The Hawks finished with a .125 hitting percentage in the second set with 11 kills, six errors in 40 total attacks. The Bearcats finished the match hitting .337 with 41 kills, 10 errors in 92 total attacks. Their best hitting set came in the first, where the connected on 14 kills with just one error in 30 attempts.
The Hawks will return to the Reich Family Pavilion for their final two home matches on Friday, November 7 and Saturday, November 8 when they host Maine and New Hampshire. The Black Bears will make the trip to West Hartford on Friday for a 7:00 p.m. match, while the Wildcats come to town on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m.
