Storrs, CT ? The University of Hartford volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision in an in-state match against Big East foe Connecticut on Tuesday night. Hartford picked up a first set win with a 25-20 score before dropping the next three sets by scores of 18-25, 11-25 and 12-25. The Hawks drop to 5-14 on the season and will return home for a pair of conference matches, beginning with UMBC on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
Erin Macro led the Hawks, finishing tied for the match-high with 11 kills. She finished with a .154 attack percentage recording seven attack errors in 26 total attacks. Also hitting well for Hartford was Maddison Molyneux and Hallie Fullagar with eight kills each. Freshmen Lindsay Makowicki and Michelle Cordell finished with five and four kills respectively.
Lindsay Ford finished with 34 assists to lead the team, while freshman Danielle Etta led the Hawks defense with a match-high 14 digs. She was joined in the digs column by Sarah Boss with seven and Bettina Woodman with six.
For the match, the Hawks hit .049 with 38 total kills, 32 errors in 122 total attacks. Hartford's best hitting set came in the first where they finished with 13 kills and only four errors in 33 total attacks for a .273 attack percentage. The Huskies finished the match hitting .269 (45 kills, 16 errors, 108 total attacks) and were led by Lauren Lamberti with 11 kills.
