BOSTON ? The University of Hartford softball team lost the final game of its weekend series at Boston University on Sunday by a 3-2 final.
Hartford (15-11 overall, 4-7 America East) trailed 2-0 after the first inning but rallied back with runs in the third and fourth to tie the game. BU (23-13 overall, 9-2 America East) plated the game-winning run in the fifth to take two of three games for the weekend.
Hartford sophomore Brittney Stratton threw six innings and allowed three runs on six hits while striking out five and walking four. The run she gave up in the fifth was on a leadoff solo homer by Rachel Hebert.
The Hawks scored their first run when junior Jackie Simonetty walked with the bases loaded in the third inning. Hartford had a chance for more in the inning, but BU got out of the jam with a line out and strikeout to end the frame. The Hawks came right back in the fourth to score their final run on back-to-back doubles by sophomore Ann Kyzer and junior Lindsey Anrico.
Hartford will next play at Holy Cross on Tuesday, April 15.
