Worcester, MA - The University of Hartford women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision on the road at Holy Cross on Wednesday afternoon. The women's only point came at first singles where Raquel Casino defeated Kristen Meahl by 6-3 sets.
The Crusaders picked up the first point of the match in doubles play. Hartford's best chance for winning a doubles match was at the second doubles position where Nikki Haynal and Hali Dorfman dropped an 8-5 decision to Chase Fitzsimmons and Hailee Lange. Casino and Kasey Michels dropped the first single match to Meg Moran and Meahly by an 8-2 score, while Jessica Ruggles and Gulay Ozdemir dropped an 8-2 decision at third doubles.
Michels was the Hawks second best singles match. She took on Moran and fell by scores of 6-3, 6-3. The Hawks were shutout at third and fourth singles, while Ruggles and Ozdemir dropped 6-1, 6-1 decisions to Fitzsimmons and Melanie Bunke at fifth and sixth singles.
The women's team will play at Stony Brook University in an America East Conference match on Saturday, April 19 at 12:00 p.m.
