Hamden, CT - The University of Hartford volleyball team ended the Quinnipiac Invitational with a five game win over the host Bobcats on Sunday afternoon. Hartford won the first and third sets by 25-20 scores, while dropping set two by a 25-27 margin and set four by a 24-26 margin. Hartford then battled from behind to win in the deciding set by a 15-12 margin. The Hawks improve to 5-11 overall in 2008. 
 
Junior Erin Macro led the Hawks, tying her career high with 19 kills. She finished the match with a .244 hitting percentage with eight errors in 45 total attacks. She also finished with a team best six blocks, three of which were solo blocks. Macro also added five digs and four aces to her credit. 
Also hitting well was juniors Maddison Molyneux and Hallie Fullagar who also recorded double digit kills. Molyneux finished with 17 kills, while Fullagar adding 15 kills. Molyneux finished the match with a .175 attack percentage (10 errors, 40 total attacks), while adding six digs. Fullagar finished with a.109 attack percentage (10 kills, 46 total attacks) and added eight digs. 
Sophomore Lindsay Ford captained the Hawks offense, finishing with a season best of 49 assists, two shy of her career high. She also added 11 digs to complete her second double double of the season. Ford knocked in four service aces to tie for the team lead in that category with Macro. 
Defensively, the Hawks were led by junior Sarah Boss who finished with 13 digs. Freshman Danielle Etta finished just behind her with 12 and Ford's 11 rounded out the double digit defenders. Freshman Lindsay Makowicki also faired well for the Hawks. She finished with eight kills and eight assists. 
 
As a team, the Hawks hit .143 for the match. The combined for 68 total kills with 41 errors in 189 total attacks. The Bobcats won the hitting battle, combining for a .150 attack percentage (46 kills, 25 errors, 140 attacks). Kelby Carrey led the Bobcats with 12 kills.
 
The Hawks will return to the Reich Family Pavilion for just the second time this season when they welcome the Central Connecticut Blue Devils on Tuesday night for a 7:00 p.m. start.
