Storrs, CT ? The University of Hartford baseball team dropped a 10-2 mid-week decision to the University of Connecticut Huskies on Tuesday afternoon, in the first of two-straight mid-week games, hosting the URI Rams on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Hartford Baseball Field. The Hawks fall to 6-19 on the season with today's loss.

Hartford's Bob Rogers suffered his fifth loss (1-5 overall) of the season. He started and pitched the first 4.1 innings, allowing five earned runs on four hits. He also walked three batters, and did not record a strikeout. The Hawks pitching staff, which included Andrew Smith, did not record one strikeout in the game, while walking five batters. Smith pitched the final 4.1 innings allowing five runs, four earned, on five hits.

At the plate, Hartford was led by Andrew Siano, who finished 2-for 3. Andy Drexel finished with the Hawks only RBI, while going 1-for-4 at the plate. Hartford had six total hits in the game, while 10 batters stuck out.

The Hawks scored early, in the first inning, and then added a second run in the fourth, but gave up five runs, three runs and two runs, respectively, in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings as the Huskies evened the two-game series between Hartford and Connecticut this season.

The first Hartford run scored in the first inning as Mike Amendola forced a two-out walk before scoring on a single by Andy Drexel into right center to put the Hawks up 1-0 early. The Hawks added another run in the top of the fourth as UConn's failed pickoff attempt allowed Hartford's Brady Stouffer to cross the plate to put his team up 2-0.

The Hartford baseball team will host the Rhode Island Rams at the Hartford Baseball Field on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. in their final mid-week game.
