BOSTON, Mass.—
A trio of seniors set personal-best marks in middle-distance races Saturday as the University of Hartford track and field teams ran in their final tune-up before the conference championship. Jennifer Flores, John Busque and Andrew Dwyer all notched career-best times in their respective races at the Boston University Scarlet and White Invitational as the Hawks wrapped up their regular season schedule.

Jennifer Flores nearly broke the school record in the women's mile run at Boston University. Flores finished with a time of 5:08.37, just .01 seconds behind the current school-best time, set by Elizabeth Foster in 2009. Flores finished 14th overall in the event.

In the men's mile, John Busque also set a career-best mark, covering the distance in 4:29.95. Not to be outdone, classmate Andrew Dwyer broke the two-minute mark in the 800-meter run for the first time as a collegian, finishing 17th with a time of 1:56.15. Dwyer also ran the 500 meters for the first time in his career, taking 12th while finishing with a time of 1:09.97.

Also highlighting the individual performances at the meet were freshmen Lauren Bossi and Savannah Brown. Bossi set career-best marks in each of her three events, clearing 1.55 meters in the high jump to match sophomore teammate Maggie Fuller, while also finishing the 60-meter hurdles in 10.10 seconds and the 500-meter dash in 1:24.01. Brown set a personal-best triple jump mark of 10.68 meters. Her leap is the best for a Hartford woman this season.

Junior Tiffany Harrison also posted a Hartford season-best time in the 400-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 58.09.

In the men's triple jump, senior Rashawn Providence finished fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 13.26 meters. Sophomore Robert Pepper finished sixth in the event with a personal-best 13.19-meter leap.

Next up for the Hawks is a trip to the Armory in New York City for the America East Indoor Track and Field Championship meet February 23-24.
