MEN'S RESULTS | WOMEN'S RESULTS
BOSTON, Mass.— The Valentine Invitational was the site of seven career-best marks for the University of Hartford men's and women's track and field teams. The Hawks competed Friday and Saturday at the meet hosted by Boston University.
The men's triple jump saw a pair of Hawks set career-best marks as both
Jordan Crump-King and
Rashawn Providence finished in the top-10. Crump-King, a freshman, bounded to a mark of 14.13 meters to finish fifth overall. His leap was just .03 meters short of the school-record mark of Anthony Oluwanifise, set in 2008. Providence finished 10th in the event with an indoor career-best jump of 13.51 meters.
On the track, sophomore Chris Helminski and freshmen
Alex Paterson and
Lawrence Williams all posted career-best times. Helminski finished the mile in 4:26.17. Paterson sprinted to a career-best time of 23.09 seconds in the 200 while Williams covered 400 meters in 50.75 seconds.
For the Hartford women, junior
Sam Crisafulli broke the three-minute mark in the 1,000 meters to finish 16th with a season-best time of 2:59.09. Senior
Jennifer Flores turned in a personal-best time of 3:02.97 at the same distance.
Sophomore
Sara Buckley notched a season-best time in the 3,000 meters by nearly 20 seconds, finishing the race in 10:39.60. Senior
Megan Barry also ran the 3,000, covering the distance in 10:02.82.
Also turning in a season-best time was
Tiffany Harrison, who sprinted to a time of 58.39 in the women's 400-meter dash.
In the high jump, Margaret Fuller, a sophomore, cleared a height of 1.55 meters to set a new career-best in the event.
