MEN'S RESULTS | WOMEN'S RESULTSAMHERST, Mass.—The University of Hartford track and field teams continued their outdoor schedule over the weekend, competing at the UMass Minuteman Invitational on Saturday. The Hawks saw nine individual top-10 finishes at the meet as the men earned 24 points as a team and the women posted 10 total points.
On the men's side, the triple jumpers led the way with three Hawks finishing within the top-six. Sophomore
Robert Pepper took home third place as an individual, leaping to a season-best mark of 13.18 meters. Pepper finished just .01 meters ahead of freshman
Jordan Crump-King, who took fourth place with a 13.17-meter jump. Senior
Rashawn Providence leapt 13.06 meters to finish sixth overall.
Also in the field for the men, freshman
James Pecsok turned in a top-10 finish in the javelin, taking ninth place with a 40.34-meter toss. Senior
Matthew Swartz took 11th at 36.51 meters.
On the track, senior
Erik Quitzau and freshman
Lawrence Williams each posted fifth-place finishes in the 110-meter hurdles and 400-meter dash, respectively. Quitzau crossed the line in 15.48, just .07 seconds off his own school record in the hurdles. Williams recorded a time of 49.50 in the 400-meter dash.
Freshman
Nick Garcia also notched a top-10 finish, taking 10th place in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:55.09, finishing just ahead of sophomore
Kyle Hamel, who finished in 15:56.49 to take 11th.
On the women's side, junior
Tiffany Harrison raced to a time of 57.84 in the 400-meter dash, a season-best time for the sprinter. Harrison took fifth in the event.
Rounding out the top individual performances for the Hawks was sophomore Margaret Fuller. Fuller cleared a height of 1.56 meters, good for seventh place in the discipline and a career-best mark.
