RESULTS ALBANY, N.Y. -- The University of Hartford track and field teams wrapped up a busy week of competition Saturday at the UAlbany Spring Classic. On the day, the Hawks turned in 12 top-10 individual finishes, eight of which landed Hawks inside the top-five within their respective disciplines.
Among the top performers for the Hawks were triple jumpers
Jordan Crump-King and
Robert Pepper on the men's side and
Savannah Brown on the women's side. Crump-King took second place in the event with a leap of 13.89 meters while his sophomore teammate Pepper posted a fifth-place mark of 13.17 meters. Crump-king also took eighth in the long jump. For the women, Brown launched herself 10.79 meters (wind-aided) to take fifth place in the event.
Sophomore
Maggie Fuller also fared well in the jumps for the Hawk women. Fuller cleared a height of 1.55 meters in the high jump, just shy of a personal-best mark, to finish ninth in the event.
On the track, four women posted top-10 times, led by junior
Sam Crisafulli in the 800 meters. Crisafulli posted a season-best in the event, rounding the track twice in 2:17.01. She finished fourth in the event.
Fellow junior
Tiffany Harrison notched a fifth-place time in the 400 meters, posting a time of 57.95. Sophomore
Sara Buckley also grabbed a fifth-place finish, hers coming in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:41.18. Senior Jen Flores posted the other top-10 mark for the women, taking ninth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 5:03.70.
A trio of senior men turned in solid finishes in their races. In the 110-meter hurdles,
Erik Quitzau posted a fifth-place finish, crossing the line in 15.57 seconds. Classmate
John Busque also earned a fifth-place result in the 5,000-meter run. Busque covered the distance in 15:08.52, a personal-best time for him in an outdoor race at that distance.
Andrew Dwyer rounded out the trio with a sixth-place time in the 1,500, finishing the race in 4:02.90.
Next up for Hartford track and field is a trip to New Haven, Conn., for the Yale Springtime Invitational on Sunday, April 27.
