Hartford Students Develop LIFT Device To Aid Athletic Performance, Injury Prevention

University of Hartford students Josh Breighner and Garrett Brown have joined forces to develop the LIFT (Leg-worn Impact Force-sensing Technology) device to track and analyze athletic performance in real-time. When placed inside an athlete's shoe, the LIFT measures how their feet strike the ground, tracks their stride and allows the coaches to dissect the pivotal moments during a jumper's approach.

Earlier this year Breighner and Brown approached Hartford Head Track & Field Coach Richard Warren to develop an analytical system that the Hawks can use to improve performance and prevent injuries. The duo plan to work with the Track & Field program throughout the 2016-17 season.
