THE LEAD:
The University of Hartford softball team dropped both ends of its #AESB against Stony Brook on Saturday afternoon on Long Island.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
  • The Seawolves opened with a bang as Irene Rivera laced a three-run home run to center in the first inning, putting Stony Brook up 3-0 early.
  • After Stony Brook added one to their lead in the second, the Hawks threatened in the fourth. Freshman Lily Sencer led off the frame singling through the right side, Fellow Freshmen Nicolette Barranger and Danielle Rocheleau both reached on fielder choices, but the Hawks couldn't capitalize on the opportunities.
  • Stony Brook capped off the game with a walk-off three-run homer in the fifth, giving them the 8-0 decision.
Game 2
  • The Hawks broke through in the third inning as Rocheleau blasted her sixth home run of the season, putting the Hawks up 1-0.
  • The Seawolves responded in the fifth inning, as Nicole McCarvill ripped a two-run home run giving Stony Brook a 2-1 lead.
  • Hartford threatened in the seventh when sophomore Eliza Bomnhardt singled to right field, but the Hawks fell short in driving her in and dropped the 2-1 decision.
