DURHAM, N.H. –Hartford women's hoops overcame a slow start to remain undefeated in America East play, taking down New Hampshire, 66-48, Wednesday evening.
Senior
Lindsey Abed has a monster night, recording her second career double-double, finishing with 14 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and four assists, as the Hawks improve to 13-7 on the year and stay perfect in the America East at 6-0. Freshman Ivy Gogolin also registered a double-double, scoring 12 points and adding 10 rebounds, as the Wildcats fall to 4-15 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
HARTFORD 66 NEW HAMPHIRE 48
After a slow start to the game for both teams, New Hampshire pushed ahead in the second quarter, using a layup by junior Caroline Soucy with 7:27 on the clock, making the score 19-9. Hartford came alive after this basket, going on a 14-0 run, capped off by a layup by sophomore
Jade Young for the 23-19 lead with 1:21 remaining in the half. The Wildcats, however, scored the final four points of the quarter to take a 25-23 lead into the locker room.
Hartford took control of the game in the third quarter with a dominating performance, outscoring New Hampshire 23-5 in the period. The Hawks shot 45.5 percent (10-22) from the field and scored 10 points off of eight Wildcats turnovers in the quarter. Hartford closed out the game in the fourth quarter, leading by as many as 27, for the team's eight-straight victory, 66-48.

- On top of recording her second career double-double, Abed has now scored in double figures in seven of her last eight games
- Hartford pushes its winning streak to eight games matching its longest rally since the 2011-12 season, when the Hawks won eight straight games.
- Senior Alexia Douglas matched a season-high with five steals. Over the last six games Douglas has averaged 3.8 steals per game
- The Hawks have been dominant on the defensive end to start America East play, holding opposing teams to 42.8 points per game through their first six conference games
- At 6-0, Hartford is off to its best start in conference play since the 2009-10 when the Hawks rattled off 16 straight America East wins to go undefeated in America East play
